Leaves have all the ingredients to make them a sensation. They come from Reykjavík, Iceland, in a time when it is well understood that all good rock is coming from the northern lands (Sigur Rós, also from Iceland; Sahara Hotnights, (International) Noise Conspiracy/Refused, The Hives, Kent, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, all from Sweden)/5(6). Philadelphia's punk rock outfit newest record, their first for Epitaph Records, finds them at their most dynamic and focused with tracks of volatile energy, from the catchy Drunk II to slower numbers like Fear/+/Desire or High Horse and the rapid hardcore punk energy of Clams that leaves no room to breathe. An album of grieving, filled with sadness and beauty, and in addition anger, as felt in the track Mortal Coil. Epitaph proves that you don’t need lyrics to create a concept album, it’s there in the music, and those concepts are of grief and mortality. It’s quite brilliant. Favorite track: Seance Room. xiormeesh. Reply

A good solid debut album from Icelandic indie rock band, Leaves. It has a little less challenging sound, but the songwriting and atmospher is definately there. If you like Coldplay, Radiohead, Doves, Travis, and Sigur Ros, give this band a try. On a side note, it was just released in the US with a bonus track on dreamworks records. Reply
